The presenter, 32, is standing by the programme despite losing half a million listeners in latest ratings, and says he still loves his job

NICK Grimshaw has vowed to stick by his Radio 1 Breakfast show saying “I hope it runs and runs” – despite a recent ratings slide.

Figures showed a massive dip of 500,000 in the latest RAJAR reports from 5.9 million to 5.4 million but the 32-year-old won’t let it get him down.

Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column at the Oculus Virtual Reality party last night, Nick said: “I love doing the show at the moment, every day. It’s still really fun.

“I hope it runs and runs, I really like it. It’s my favourite job.”

Nick joined the Radio 1 Breakfast Show in July 2012—replacing veteran host Chris Moyles.

And he revealed even the early nights aren’t enough to put him off the big gig.

He added: “I was in bed at 8.30pm last night—which is super early—so I’m feeling really fresh. I rarely go to bed late these days unless it’s a special occasion.”

Nick briefly appeared on The X Factor as a judge in 2015 but announced he wouldn’t be returning the following year.

Last night he attended the Oculus Game Day alongside pal and fellow Radio 1 colleague Tina Daheley.

The pair was spotted immersing themselves in the Virtual Reality experiences alongside other stars including Jonathan Ross and Human’s actress Gemma Chan during the bash.

He cited pal Tina as the reason behind his fascination with video games.

“Tina loves the Virtual Reality stuff and she is bringing me into that whole world. It’s great fun, even if it’s a bit scary.”
